Here at Giddy Sprite we try not to be biased because we really do love all our wonderful stockists…but we have to admit that the Ruffld logo ticked all the boxes in our design minds!  It’s fab.  And the name and spelling also ticks our humour boxes.  Here it is – isn’t it charming?!

Yes, every time we see it, we smile.  And that’s what we believe is in the essence of good quality design.  It needs to attract and engage and delight.

That’s what also attracted Janet, owner of Ruffld, to Giddy Sprite’s products.  One of her favourite things about her business is tracking down unique products for her store because she knows that her customers don’t want the same as everyone else. They thrive on being individual and enjoy discovering something different.  And that is a frequent refrain from all our customers and stockists – our products are refreshingly different.

Janet has been running Ruffld, an online store, for around 2 years now.  After working in an extremely busy school office for 17 years, she was ready for a change.  Now that her children are grown up, she doesn’t need to be free in school holidays.  As her background was in retail, Janet wanted to discover and sell unique and ethical products, and to buy mainly from individual artists or small British companies.  Art has always been her passion (she is a member of a local art group), and she is pleased to incorporate her passion into a successful business, finding it exciting and challenging too.

Here is Janet (and those cute owls again!), standing just behind a display of Pusskin clocks.  Janet tells us that the clocks are a big talking point with her customers; they love the images and bright colours, and the fact that not only are they wonderful to look at, but are useful items too!  This is exactly our aim at Giddy Sprite.  To put top quality design onto practical products which can be used and enjoyed every day.

When Janet is not getting ruffld with all the hard work of running a business, she likes to escape into the peaceful countryside near where she lives, just outside of London.

As with all our stockists, we all feel passionate about supporting British industry and designers and artists, and it’s a pleasure to work altogether in achieving this aim.  Big high street stores are certainly useful, but we wouldn’t do without all those independent shops which offer treasure troves of interesting products.  We need to remember to shop there too, and from our point of view here at Giddy HQ, it seems that more and more independent shops are thriving due to the fact that they really do offer something different.
